Pacific Coast League: Bringing The Wild West Together

PCL goes all the way back to the 50s and 60s when it enjoyed the glory of hosting players like Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams. In the early part of the twentieth century, it was one of the highly praised rec leagues. While it was not recognized as a preeminent league, the level of competition was quite impressive.

The modernization era of the PCL started in 1958, with both the advent of big-league clubs on the west coast and the provision of broadcasting pro baseball games. Each team drafted Player Development Contracts into becoming farm teams for MLB clubs.

Today, the league is just a notch below the Triple-A recognition of MiLB and continues to give the best pitchers to the parent MLB teams.

Players and Tournaments

The Pacific Champion League pitchers face the International League champion in the Triple-A National Championship Game. A single game is staged annually to establish an overall Triple-A baseball champion. Their players are also known to play Junior World League and Triple-A League World.
