Headlining on Saturday, July 4, is alternative rock band, Third Eye Blind. Formed in the early 1990s in San Francisco, Third Eye Blind recorded their first demo in 1993 but gained major label attention after their second demo was released in 1995. The band soon found themselves in a bidding war among record labels, and after a showcase in Los Angeles signed with Elektra Records because they believed it offered them the most artistic freedom. Third Eye Blind's first album, Third Eye Blind, was released in 1997 and sold six million copies. The album had five singles, “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Graduate,” “Losing a Whole Year,” “Jumper,” and “How's It Going to Be.” Their second album, Blue, was released in 1999 with the singles, "Anything," "Never Let You Go,” "Deep Inside of You,” and "10 Days Late.” After extensive international touring, the band took a break from performing in 2001 and 2002, but returned in 2003 with Out of the Vein which included “Blinded” and “Crystal Baller.” Third Eye Blind has announced a fourth studio album under the Sony label titled Ursa Major with the current expected release date of June 23rd, 2009. Opening for Third Eye Blind will be singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson, an impressive 12-string guitar player whose work is a blend of folk and rock music. He has built a loyal fan base through extensive touring with shows providing a blend of humor and music. Matt released four independent albums before his major-label debut, Beneath These Fireworks, in 2003 followed by Some Mad Hope in 2007. Several of Matt’s songs have been featured in television shows, and his cover of “Laid” was featured on the American Wedding soundtrack as well as American Pie Presents Band Camp. His latest single, “Come On Get Higher,” continues to climb the A/C and Pop charts. | venue infoHow to get thereFrom the North: 31 South to Downtown Exit- follow downtown to Terrace-right on Terrace- turns into Shoreline Dr. 650 W Western Ave Muskegon, MI 49441 General information
